Leading architects Woods Bagot were hired to come up with an innovative design for the apartment building perched on Doncaster Hill, with up to 70 percent of apartments having stunning city views and all easy access to one of Australia's largest shopping centres, the local Westfield, opposite.

They've created a residents' lobby area downstairs, with comfortable sofas and a fireplace, and within each apartment, they decided on the system of internal timber panels, together with large, uncluttered living spaces. Then the balconies outside will have a series of slatted screens that can also be moved to either protect the interiors from the heat in summer or the winter wind and rain.

At the same time, award-winning landscape architectural firm Jack Merlo Design was brought in to plan a lush ground floor frontgarden for the building, as well as a second garden on the rooftop, from which all residents can enjoy the panoramic views. Again, echoing that orchard heritage, both gardens were designed with plenty of edible plants, herbs and citrus and olive trees.
